Come enjoy an uplifting and magical musical morning! Surrey Civic Theatres are thrilled to present the ever-popular Coffee Concerts for your entertainment.
This December performance features the Bergmann Piano Duo alongside harpists and sisters, Miya, and Kaori Otake.
This program will include beautiful, inspiring, uplifting music that will feature much-loved pieces by composers such as Bach, Gounod, Saint-Saens and Franck. It’s the perfect show to enjoy this winter!

About the Bergmann Duo:
Elizabeth and Marcel Bergmann have been performing together as a duo since 1989, and their dynamic and energetic performances of uniquely eclectic program have inspired audiences for more than two decades. The duo, who are laureates of the Dranoff International Two Piano Competition, perform a wide variety of repertoire and styles, and enjoy dazzling audiences around the world at festivals and on tour. Their recitals and concerts with orchestras have taken them all over the world, including the United States, Italy, Germany, Holland, Greece and Canada.
About the Otake Duo:
Miya Otake -
A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in London, England, Miya Otake is an active harpist contributing her talent in both performing and teaching. At age of seven, she began to play the harp in Japan. In 1983, she immigrated to Canada and continued her musical studies at the Vancouver Academy of Music and the Victoria Conservatory of Music. She has won many awards and appeared in numerous recitals and TV programs.
In 1997, upon completing her post-graduate studies at the Royal Academy of Music in England, she pursued her studies further in Nice, France. She has performed in Canada, USA, Europe, and Japan. Some of her notable performances include a recital at the Canadian Embassy in Tokyo and Carnegie Hall in New York. Currently, she is teaching harp at the Langley Community Music School and is a member of the BC Registered Music Teacher’s Association.
Kaori Otake -
Harpist Kaori Otake has given solo recitals and concerto performances around the world. She has performed the Damase Concertino and Debussy Danses with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and The Handel Concerto with the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra conducted by Maestro Ken Hsieh. She has performed at the World Harp Congress in Hong Kong, Vancouver, Geneva, and Tacoma. She also performed at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia, and Carnegie Hall in New York, USA. Kaori has won numerous competitions including first prize at the Japan International Harp Competition including the Professional, Advanced, and Junior Division.
She graduated from Indiana University, The Juilliard School in New York and The Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. In earlier years, she studied at the Vancouver Academy of Music and the Victoria Conservatory. Kaori was a member of the Host Committee for the World Harp Congress in Vancouver, Canada and serves as the Board of Directors of the World Harp Congress and Focus on Youth Committee. She is currently a principal harp instructor at the Capilano University and North Shore Conservatory of Music at Gloria Dei Church.
