Surrey Civic Theatres Summer POP! is back! Join us this August in Darts Hill Garden Park for POP! (Performances Outdoors in Parks) Summer Strolls. These performances are as delightful as they sound. Stroll through the picturesque setting, and in different locations you will enjoy a variety of performances. Each show station hosts a micro-performance that lasts approximately 15 minutes before you stroll to the grand finale.

All four performances for this unique show have been hand-picked with the surroundings in mind.

What’s better than an idyllic park setting? One that includes amazing entertainment for the whole family of course! Enjoy a haunting and beautiful a cappella journey through the rich and varied folk music of Eastern Europe and the Balkans with East Van trio, Vostok. This accomplished Ukrainian Canadian trio will entertain you with gorgeous harmonies and marvelous melodies, in a performance certain to leave you floating on air.

STORIES on WHEELS: MIDDLE EASTERN TALES is an original street theatre storytelling act for the whole family. Tales are brought to life by high-energy performer, Lenard Stanga, using beautifully illustrated picture cards from Syrian visual artist, Boushra Ghesen, which are displayed in a magnificent miniature wooden stage attached to the back of a bicycle. This unique performance also features musician, Bèro Saker, playing the oud to accompany these traditional stories from Syria and the Middle East. Entertaining and magical, this is certain to be an experience people of all ages remember for a long time to come.

This stroll also includes the opportunity to immerse yourself in the ambient sounds of Gamelan Tekanan Suara. This unique performance features traditional Indonesian music, which includes a variety of gongs and metal instruments, which sounds beautiful under usual circumstances, but is even more atmospheric in this scenic garden park setting!

The thirty-minute grand finale will be brought to you by Cause & Effect Circus. Three of Vancouver's favourite jugglers have joined forces to dazzle you with a silly spectacle of interactive contemporary circus that includes clubs, balls, contact juggling, and plenty of pop-notch circus hilarity. This entertaining act is the perfect way to round out this unique event. A POP! Summer Stroll is a magnificent way to enjoy a Surrey summer’s eve—or afternoon!
