Conducted by a trained facilitator from the Tsleil-waututh nation, the Blanket Exercise is a powerful way of learning about the history of the relationship between Indigenous and non- Indigenous peoples in Canada, not only with the head but also the heart. It is a time of listening that will aid reconciliation through learning and understanding. This event is hosted by Lynn Valley United Church and is admissible by donation.
The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is on September 30, 2022. It is a day of public awareness and commemoration of the tragic and painful history of residential schools in Canada. This day is also meant to bring about education of the rich cultural traditions of Indigenous Peoples across Canada and in our local communities.
