Three sets of unprecedented, unrepeatable, and unmissable meetings between international innovators, cross-Canada all-stars, and local lights.
Avant-garde vocalist Jay Clayton has been active since the 1960s with artists like Steve Reich, Fred Hersch, and John Cage. Here she joins pianist Róisín Adams (Hildegaard’s Ghost, Beatings are in the Body) and drummer/inter-media artist Jen Yakamovich for broad-minded, poetic interplay.
Montréalers Stéphane Diamantakiou bass and Ivan Bamford drums meet Vancouver saxophonist John Paton in what would appear to be a standard jazz trio. We know better.
To close the evening, the outer reaches and diverse meanings of beauty will be explored by vocalist Ayelet Rose Gottlieb, harpist Elisa Thorn (Gentle Party), Aram Bajakian (Dálava) oud, Peggy Lee cello, and percussionist Hamin Honari.
