2023 Festival Schedule:
Friday, February 24th, 2023:
5:30pm – Doors open. Join us before the screenings for networking opportunities with Filmmakers and Passholders. Pizza, other food items & Drinks available for purchase.
7:00pm – Fort Flicks 48-hour screenings. We will view all 12 films that teams made two weeks earlier in only 48-hours.
8:30pm – Fort Flicks Awards Presented.
9:00pm – Post-screening Social – Everyone is encouraged to stay after the show. Food and Bar will remain open.
Saturday, February 25th, 2023:

A First Nations father, Jacob kidnaps his youngest daughter’s celebrity crush and brings him back to the Reserve to clean him up. Rehab centres on a man — dealing with the recent loss of his father, who forces a famous actor, Brad struggling with the separation of his wife, to live in the woods until he becomes sober.

Join us for a Special Presentation screened in honour of BC Heritage Week – The Wheels of Time – A short film produced by Creative Compass Society in association with the Langley Heritage Society depicting life in and around the Fort Langley CN Station from early 1900’s to current.

Join us for a Special Presentation Doc & Talk – An award winning documentary film – Rematriation – Filmmakers will be in attendance for a special presentation and Q&A after the show.
“The 2023 VIMFF Jury presents the festival’s Best Environmental Film award to Rematriation, a vital documentary feature about Ada’itsx (Fairy Creek) and the ongoing fight to protect old growth forests on southern Vancouver Island. The film’s articulate human subjects make compelling arguments for why these remaining forests are important, and important to preserve; more broadly, they remind us – if anyone needs reminding by this point! – why environmental stewardship is the central issue of our age. A wide range of social, political, cultural, historical, and, crucially, indigenous perspectives inform Rematriation’s frequently stirring 67 minutes. A film about the Rio de Paz Movement featuring its peaceful, though impacting, demonstrations in noble areas of Rio de Janeiro city, from violent and shocking events that happened in low class areas and undemocratic acts across the country, through strong images and media appeal, with the purpose of alerting the public Power and the world of what’s been happening in Brazil.
The film addresses different actions, ranging from tributes to children killed by stray bullets, military police officers killed in the line of duty, the 700 thousand dead by Covid-19, actions in prisons, violence against women, to the distribution of food in Jacarezinho favela, proving that Human Rights have no side.
