Join us at Main Street Brewing to discover the early foundations of Vancouver craft beer and the independent breweries that were part of the fabric of the city with beer historian, Noëlle Phillips

She will share stories from Brewery Creek, where much of the Vancouver beer industry first emerged in Mount Pleasant - including the brewery that opened its doors where Main Street Brewing is now. Enjoy a pint or flight while learning about what Vancouver's beer industry looked like before "Big Beer" rang the death knell for independent brewing - the personalities, the politics, and the partying.
Ticket price includes either a 4-beer flight or a pint of your choice, as well as a tour of the Main Street Brewing facility. A selection of food will be available to order from Bodhi’s Kitchen.
Please note that as this is a 19+ event, you are required to bring two pieces of ID, including one piece of government issued ID.

About the Speaker
Noëlle Phillips teaches at Douglas College and has a PhD in medieval literature. In the academic world, she has published on medieval poetry, the medieval history of beer and brewing, and modern reimaginings of medieval concepts and cultures. She is also a regular writer for the BC Ale Trail blog and The Growler craft beer magazine, and is studying for the first level of both the Beer Judge Certification Program and the Cicerone Certification Program. Her current book project focuses on the history of independent brewing in Vancouver from 1880-1920 and 1980 to present day.
