LUMIERE IS A SERIES OF PUBLIC ARTWORKS INSPIRED BY LIGHT AND ARTISTIC EXPRESSION
30+ illuminated artworks and light-based projections, accompanied by dynamic performances will enliven downtown Vancouver this November.

This Year, Lumière Festival Will Showcase A Variety Of Artists And Their Works Of Art, Including International Artists From France, Poland And The United States. The Interactive, Light-Based Pieces Will Be Displayed In More Than 10 Locations Across Downtown Vancouver, The West End, Yaletown, And Gastown Neighbourhoods.

“ELEMENTS”
AQUA OLIMPIA (ARTUR GRYCUK)
Aqua Olimpia is an immersive art installation imitating the pool that captivates the senses and transports spectators into a mesmerizing underwater experience. Imagine stepping into a world where blue-light waves gracefully sway in the wind, accompanied by music and sound of water.

HARMONIA (ROY “THEWIZ” TRAMMELL)
Harmonia by The Wiz is a highly interactive sculpture animated by light in harmonically related motion. Its patterns change through cycles and epicycles, then repeat. With just a simple touch, you can guide this luminous masterpiece using your fingertips on the screen. The intuitive graphical interface provides a vocabulary of effects, transforming the installation from eye candy into a giant toy people line up to play with.

EMBER ARTS
“The Ember Arts Society is a Vancouver non-profit group dedicated to creating opportunities for our community to create fire art. We love BIG FIRE and strive to engage, collaborate and create large-scale performances that are unique, safe and a lot of fun! Ember Arts is a group with diverse performance backgrounds in dance, martial arts, and circus. We have performed long and short-format fire shows at numerous community, private and corporate events in and around Vancouver. Performances on November 2nd during opening ceremony 6:00pm & 8:00pm, Nov 4th and 6th at 7:30pm & 9:00pm

RADIANT CONTOURS (KNOWHERE DESIGN)
Radiant Contours is an innovative and captivating installation that celebrates the breathtaking topography of British Columbia, with a focus on Lower British Columbia, Vancouver, the Sea-to-Sky Corridor, and Vancouver Island. This illuminated topographic terrain installation is designed to be a mesmerizing centerpiece for the Lumiere YVR Festival, offering festival-goers a unique and immersive experience that highlights the natural beauty of the region.

XARAX (RON SIMMER)
An Interactive fire toy anyone can play. The heart of the installation will be a fisher price toy piano which controls an array of 12 propane poofers. The propane heads are designed so they produce a given pitch, allowing the piano to play simple tunes.

Ron Simmer works in the area of Vancouver, BC mainly with found objects and materials, He searches for discards that speak to him with the promise of sublime creations that will amaze, tickle, surprise or give pause to think. He enjoys the mental game of taking consumer rejects and making the mundane and common into the unique and spectacular. Ron works with groups celebrating human creativity and spirituality, contributing art to local festivals and events. He is head of ReVision the Art of Recycling and is committed to action to save our biosphere. On occasion he joins forces in collaborative projects with engineers, technicians, designers and other artists to create large scale public art exhibits.

THE DOORS(S) (BIG ART)
What does a door mean to you? Does it evoke feelings of opportunity or anxiety? How did a door become such a metaphor for success, failure, opportunity, family, home, change, transition, and so many other moments of emotional connection? This project explores the greater meaning of a door, and its ability to change our path in life when we have the courage to open it. Over 200 custom experiences await with every open.
