Paulo OConnor
City Centre Artist Lodge
Studio 225, directly under the rooftop City Centre neon sign
A rapidly emerging Vancouver Visual Artist, Paulo OConnor’s noted themes of layered communication and balanced detail emerge from his uncommon treatment of colour and typography across media including illustration, photography, paint, and soon, sculpture. Describing his works as simply compassionate expressions of life’s peripheries, Paulo credits his aesthetic to solo immersions in nature, a beloved grandfather’s lessons on conscious living, and years reconnecting people with wilderness as a marine biologist and outdoor guide. Art finds him facing new fears, attempting the unforeseen, and arriving somewhere unexpected. He honours this chance to live creatively and contribute within the unceded traditional lands and waters of the Coast Salish peoples.
Elana Sigal
City Centre Artist Lodge
Studio 110
Elana has been designing and producing hand-felted artworks since 1992. Her work displays a level of sophistication and an original, unique interpretation of fibre art. Her work is very organic in nature and embodies her love of colour, figure, line, texture and abstract form. She expresses herself through her art in a casual and whimsical manner bringing the viewer a sense of ease, contentment and joy. Her inspiration comes from the historic and tribal process of felt making as well as from African art, Matisse, Klee and Twombly. Marrying her modern sensibility with the ancient form of felt making she creates art pieces which connect us with the natural world.
Felt is an ideal medium for softening, adding warmth and texture while acting as a sound buffer in residential , commercial, spiritual and corporate settings. Pieces can be designed in any size and thickness depending on the site requirements.
In recent years, Elana has discovered her love of photography and the digital image. She has been playing with collage and multi-layer transparencies.

Artwork: Original paintings inspired by my beloved Latin American Heritage and culture: I’m passionate about the magnificent indigenous civilizations of the Ancient Americas and particularly intrigued by the Pre- Hispanic iconography found in ancient textiles of Mexico, Central and South America.
I pay tribute to the beauty, strength and resilience of indigenous Latin American women and showcase them as the axis of a mystical, colourful universe in celebration of our ancestral idiosyncrasies, popular culture and folklore.
