The VIFF Oscar Party will be screening many Academy Award nominees in the run-up to the award ceremony, including Justine Triet’s Anatomy of a Fall, Bradley Cooper’s Maestro, and J.A Bayona’s Society of the Snow. An annual showcase of Oscars Shorts also returns, screening nominees in short-form animation, documentary and live-action filmmaking.
Fashion guru Steven Schelling and actor-writer David C Jones will provide live in-person commentary and emcee Oscars trivia, games and competitions. There’ll be photo opportunities on VIFF’s own red carpet, whilst contests include VIFF’s best dressed awards, with prizes for swankiest outfits and best cosplay in honour of favourite nominees. VIFF’s Oscars bingo is an invitation to predict the winners – with the grand prize being a pass to the annual Vancouver International Film Festival this fall.
