When 100 Akebono cherry trees come into bloom in this spectacular setting it will be a magical event to behold! This event honours the Honorable Dr. David Lam’s donation of cherry trees and celebrates friendship as we are all friends under the cherry tree

Join us for Hanami (花見) – flower viewing – as we gather under 100, breathtaking, Akebono cherry trees in full blossom at David Lam Park. Everyone is welcome to picnic, play and celebrate our beautiful city during this stunning start of Spring. We have art activities for all ages like origami, felt crafts, paper flower making, block printing and making a model of the signature ABLOOM structure.
This year, we’re thrilled to introduce a new interactive activity called BreakOUT! Free, and fun for all ages. Go to the BreakOut tent to get a set of headphones to hear your Cherry Blossom Guide you through this dance/movement activity with story to spark imagination.
We have our celebrated Haiku Exhibition featuring a partnership between art and poetry. A Poetry in Motion booth, Paper Fan Decorating, a Wishing Tree, Drum Workshops, Yoga in the park, workshops and so much more. Discover our Pink Bench Conversation Corner, where new friendships blossom.
We invite you to come and picnic with us! Bring a picnic blanket and grab a bite from the food trucks, order a Bento Box (pre-order only), or snack around the park from our sponsors and partners. With more interactive activities than ever before, surprises await around every corner!
