Selina's focus is poetry, with additional expertise in fiction, YA/fantasy, and literary magazine publishing. She is particularly interested in supporting emerging writers.
To request an appointment, email programs@vpl.ca with the subject line "Writing Consultation with Selina Boan" and the following information:
1. A brief introduction (approx. 2-5 sentences) including your writing experience, what you hope to gain from the consultation and any specific questions or aspects of your work you would like to discuss.
2. One PDF file containing a maximum of 5 poems or for prose 1500 words of your written work, typed in Times New Roman (font size 12), and double-spaced with each page numbered in the bottom right-hand corner. The Writer in Residence requires at least 7 days to read and consider your work.
If you prefer your consultation to focus on a conversation around the creative writing process only, then a written submission is not required.
3. The appointment time that you would like to attend and whether you'd prefer an in-person or virtual session.
4. If relevant, information about any accessibility considerations or accommodation needs.
This program is supported by the Friends of The Vancouver Public Library, a community of library lovers who volunteer, fundraise, and advocate in support of the Vancouver Public Library. The Friends also operate book’mark, The Library Store, on the main level of Central Branch of the Vancouver Public Library.
