Times have changed: people playing chamber music today can’t be limited by the rules from decades ago; expectations regarding the diversity of repertoire have evolved. The Fauré Quartett has established itself as one of the world’s leading piano quartets and the group enjoys exploiting opportunities arising from these changed rules and expectations. They explore and discover new sound fields in chamber music and perform works both inside and outside the mainstream repertoire. They will play their “Femmes formidables” programme for us, featuring music by fabulous women composers from the 19th and 20th Centuries.
Programme:
Fanny Mendelssohn-Hensel: Piano Quartet in A-flat Major
Dora Pejačević: Piano Quartet in D Minor, Opus 25
Melanie Bonis: Piano Quartet No. 1 B-flat Major
