Fire Dragon Festival 2026

The event will bring the Chinatown community together past and present through celebration, cultural activities and performances, culinary exploration, and the appreciation of intangible heritage.
Our vision is to establish a community tradition through partnership and collaboration that will strengthen awareness and education about Chinatown’s cultural legacy for years to come.
Pre-event workshops:
​Artist and community workshops
​From 11:00am – 5:00pm, come join our talented artists and community groups at Chinatown Plaza Mall (180 Keefer St.) for an afternoon of art, culture, and sharing. You'll be able to create your own artpieces that you can take home with you, learn plenty of new things, and immerse yourself in the wonderful Chinatown community.
Plus, there will be plenty of cute, quirky, and cool merch that you can buy to support some of the most talented local artists in Vancouver.

Fire Dragon Festival:
Meet our artists in residence, Bagua Artist Association, Steven Dragonn, and Sifu Michael Tan from Chau Luen Athletics. This is your chance to ask questions about the Fire Dragon, its building process, and the performance itself, as well as a chance to insert incense and learn about this treasured community festival.

​Ceremony and main parade:
​Saturday, September 19th at 7:00pm at 578 Carrall St.

The main event will see the Fire Dragon with its glowing embers snaking its way through the streets of Chinatown. Follow the dragon and the team of hardworking performers as it twists and turns to the beat of our drums.
