Guided by Talaysay Cultural Land Ambassadors, educators will begin in the MOV’s Unity Indigenous Plant Garden, exploring Indigenous plant knowledge and the relationships between plants, people and place. The experience continues with Talaysay Tours’ special Talking Trees walking tour, where educators will discover the plants, trees and relationships that shape Vanier Park. Each plant and tree has a story. Through Indigenous oral history, cultural knowledge and close observation, educators will be introduced to some of the ways plants have supported food, medicine, technology, culture and ways of living for thousands of years.
Following a catered lunch, discover the full range of our English and French school programs. Through a hands-on preview of program materials, educators will gain insight into their next Museum field trip. Our newest Grades 2-4 school program, That Which Sustains Us (offered in both French and English), along with the latest outreach resource kit, Salish Cedar Root Basketry, will also be highlighted.
