Tommy Alexander: Portland-based singer/songwriter Tommy Alexander has written a lot of music in a very little amount of time. In the past five years, he’s released two full-length LPs and two EPs in addition to founding an artist collective and record label. Alexander’s newest record, Old News, was released on March 23. He worked with producer Mike Coykendall (of other notable Northwest acts like M. Ward, She and Him, and Blitzen Trapper), to hone his folksy sway into an indie-darling tone. Alexander also enlists the help of Robert Burger (Iron and Wine) and Jay Cobb Anderson (Fruition) on the album. Alexander’s had a whirlwind few years, first founding Jenke, an artist collective and record label based in Burlington, Vermont in 2011. He hastoured extensively across the US, and eventually settled in Portland, Oregon, where he met Coykendall. Old News is the follow up to Basement Soul, which was released in April 2014. He has also released music as QuietLion; Huffington Post called their 2012 effort, Whatever You Say, “authentic...strikingly truthful...downright mind-bending.” - Paste Magazine. Tommy has been fortunate to share the stage with acts such as Big Thief, Michael McDonald, Kevin Devine, Rising Appalachia, Big Thief, People Under the Stairs, Milo Greene, Johnnyswim, Night Beds, Spirit Family Reunion.
