‘And the Monkey Flips the Switch’ is a pop-up art and fashion show that marks the first solo exhibition of emerging artist Anthony Joseph, as he showcases a series of black and white oil paintings.
Date/Time: Sep 15 2016, 5:00 pm to 11:59 pm
Vancouver, Makeshift Spaces Ltd.
The works convey personal reflections on evolving manners of interactions and self-identity, or rather social evolution.
The evening will also preview a fashion collaboration between Anthony Joseph, fashion designer and stylist Carolina Chan, and jewelry designer Lee Allen. Together they will be previewing a line of custom shirts, dresses, and jewellery – all developed within the same conceptual vein, and based on the showcased paintings.
Sponsored by Mill Street Brewery – the exclusive beer provider for the event, the show will be taking place in the heart of downtown Vancouver, at Makeshift Spaces – a gallery-style space, located at 89 Smithe Street.
Doors open at 5pm, closing at midnight or shortly after, with a fashion runway show at 8:00pm. The event will be a semi-formal cocktail evening, heightened by DJ sets played throughout the night.
Given that the venue is literally situated a block from BC Place – which happens to be the stadium where Drake will be performing that very same night, the event will have a revolving door of attendees consisting of both invitees and foot traffic.
In all, ‘And the Monkey Flips the Switch’ will provide a night for fine art and fashion lovers alike to partake in a budding gathering where people can socialize and network, while enjoying $4 beers and high-balls, good tunes, and of course amazing art & fashion!
