Lisa Charleyboy loved two things when she was growing up: fashion and books.

Lisa Charleyboy (British Columbia):
After graduation, she moved to Toronto to study fashion communication. “At York,” says Charleyboy, “I was encouraged to explore my heritage through writing and assignments … and be more critical about aboriginal issues in Canada.” As Charleyboy connected to her roots, her path was altered. She talks about her journey to being named one of three young Aboriginal Canadians to watch by Huffington Post Canada and an “Aboriginal Storyteller for the Digital Generation” by the National Post, as well as about her current work: the online publication Urban Native Magazine and two co-edited anthologies. Each project shares the goals of inspiring indigenous youth and dispelling untruths about Canada’s First Nations.
