Ballet Rocks is an innovative, vibrant, athletic, entertaining, quirky, and beautiful program which first showcases three Canadian Choreographers: Jacques Lemay "Le Jazz Hot", a new work by Bruce Monk to the music of The Eagles, and a new work created for an eclectic selection of pop rock music. Then following the intermission Ballet Victoria delights audiences with a new narrative work based on Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and the first nation mythology of the raven through these seasons. Each season opens with a poem written by Canadian poet Linda Rogers read by Chilliwack’s very own Steven Point, past Lieutenant Governor of BC.
Ballet Rocks with Vivaldi's Four Seasons is a journey through time with new ballets that will move and inspire you. First, a mixed program with new works set to music by rock legends including The Rolling Stones (Paint it Black), Jimmy Hendrix (Foxy Lady), Pink Floyd (Comfortably Numb), the Eagles (Hotel California), Disturbed (The Sound of Silence), and more. The second act offers another timeless classic with Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. Ballet Victoria takes you on an original West Coast tale where First Nation art and mythology drive a wild and beautiful ballet. Visual art, poetry, music, and classical ballet intertwine in a work of breathless beauty.
